Toledo senior Emma Kertesz finished third overall in the fourth stage of the 2012 International Chiba Ekiden on Friday, a 42.195km relay race broken up into six stages with coed teams from 15 countries. lt;br /> lt;br />Kertesz, a 2012 All-American in track, ran exceptionally well as the only U.S.A. collegiate runner with a time of 16:25 over 5km. She passed Russian Svetlana Kireyeva to lift the U.S.A team from fourth to third place, while opening a sizable gap before handing off to Olympic 10,000-meter silver medalist Galen Rupp.
